JOHN ABSOLON –
Angling, 1847
Etching
Sheet size: 175x120 mm
Image size: 140x105 mm
Edition: Size of edition unknown; very scarce – Unsigned
Original etching by John Absolon, one of a series of six etchings of the rural months executed for the short-lived First Series of Joseph Cundall's journal The Playmate: A Pleasant Companion for Spare Hours in 1847. Printed on book wove paper. The image is fresh and clean, the margins of the sheet are somewhat tired and marked, and there is one tear at the righthand edge about one third up the sheet, extending 10 mm into the image. Because of the tear, this charming etching is offered at half the price of the others. Condition: See description.
