WILHELM LEIBL (German /
1844-1900)
Wilhelm Maria Hubertus Leibl was born in Cologne, and died in Würzburg. Leibl studied under Piloty and Romberg in Munich. He spent a year in Paris in 1869, before the Franco-Prussian war forced his return to Germany. The influence of Courbet and of the Barbizon School is noticeable in Leibl's own art.
