PROSPER MARILHAT (French /
1811-1847)
Prosper Georges Antoine Marilhat was born in Vertaizon (Puy-de-Dôme). Marilhat was an Orientalist, known for his scenes of Syria, Palestine, and Egypt. He lived for a time in Cairo. Marilhat only made two original etchings, but his paintings were often interpreted as etchings or lithographs by other artists.
