HENDRIK WILLEM MESDAG (Dutch /
1831-1915)
Henrik Willem Mesdag was born in Groningen. He studied with Willem Roelofs and Laurens Alma Tadema in Brussels. He was also influenced by Johannes Warnardus Bilders, alongside whom he painted at Oosterbeek. Mesdag exhibited at the Salon de Paris from 1870 to 1889. He was married to the artist Sientze Mesdag van Houten.
