GASTON DE LATOUCHE (French / 1854-1913)

Gaston de la Touche was born in Saint-Cloud (Hauts-de-Seine). La Touche received advice and guidance from Édouard Manet and Félix Bracquemond. When Ernest Meissonier and Puvis de Chavannes broke away from the official Paris Salon in 1890 to form the Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts, Gaston de la Touche was one of its most prominent members. La Touche also exhibited with the Artistes Français from 1883. He was made a Chevalier of the Légion d'honneur in 1900, and an officer in 1909.
