FELIX ZIEM (French /
1821-1911)
Félix François Georges Philibert Ziem was born in Beaune (Côte-d'Or); his father was from Croatia, his mother from Burgundy. Ziem was taught at the Dijon Beaux-Arts by Anatole Devosge, a pupil of David. Félix Ziem is regarded as a precursor of the Impressionists, especially in his obsession with the ever-changing light of Venice.
