EUGENE FROMENTIN (French /
1820-1876)
Eugène Fromentin, or Fromentin-Dupeux, was an important French Orientalist. First inspired to to travel in North Africa by an exhibition of paintings by Prosper Marilhat, Eugène Fromentin was also greatly influenced by Delacroix. He was born in La Rochelle.
