Maria Angelica Kauffmann Zucchi was a Neoclassical painter, taught by her father, the painter Johann Josef Kauffmann. Angelica Kauffmann eclipsed her father, becoming one of the most successful and sought-after painters in Europe. Through her close friendship with Sir Joshua Reynolds, Angelica Kauffmann became a founder member of the Royal Academy in London, exhibiting regularly between 1769 and 1797.
