ANDRE LHOTE (French / 1885-1962)

An important figure in Cubism, and a major influence on younger artists through the teaching atelier he opened in Montparnasse in 1922, André Lhote was born in Bordeaux in 1885. Initially influenced by Gauguin and Cézanne, and then by the Fauves, André Lhote was one of the earliest converts to Cubism.
